In 2019 we have a new code D9130 | Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction-Non Invasive Physical Therapies

This therapy includes massage, diathermy, ultrasound, or cold application to provide relief from muscles spasms, inflammation or pain to improve freedom of motion and joint function.  Reported on a by session basis. Narrate with the medical necessity and the time and modality used. This excludes treatment that is pharmacological. Most dental policies will exclude this code but medical insurance may pay if you establish medical necessity and use the proper ICD-10 codes and CPT codes that are applicable to the medical diagnosis.
