Marcie’s Mindfulness Moment | Take Notice
In today’s busy, technologically driven world, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos that can ensue behind our computer screens. As Contractors that work remotely, as a Dentist who’s daily routine revolves around the computer, and as Auxiliary Staff who are reliant upon the screen to dictate what your next move is- sometimes we need to take a conscious break from it all for the sake of self-preservation. When we find ourselves getting flooded with stimulation overload, it’s important to take a few minutes to stand up, to look around, and to just NOTICE. Try to focus on and notice five things around your space- without judgement. What do you see? Smell? Taste? Hear? Touch? This isn’t the time to see that your house needs cleaning or you could stand to wash your hair, it’s simply time for observations.
As you change your position and direct your attention to the space around you, you engage different areas of your brain; and those that were previously stimulated can start to relax and calm. The few minutes you take to do this reset will come back to you ten-fold in your ability to process information quicker, sharper and more thoroughly. This brain break can be done at any time throughout your day to help center & ground yourself and prepare to embrace your next set of tasks and accomplishments.
