Did your practice survive the “dog” days of summer? No shows usually increase, last minute cancellations are more common, and staff all need vacations around the same time. Dentists carry a lot of unnecessary stress during these months—due to the financial lows that are common with the practice of dentistry in the summer. The stress is usually only temporary though. As 2016 comes to a close, now is the time to encourage patients to use all of their yearly dental insurance benefits before January 1st. By taking the time consuming process of posting patient EOBs, sending claims, appealing denied claims, and following up on outstanding insurance AR out of the office–through eAssist’s dental billing service–your staff will have time to personally invite all patients that have unscheduled treatment back into the office before January 1st. Sometimes the most important leadership we provide in our offices is the vision of what we should be doing with our precious time, rather than what we have been doing with it.
