Word from the CEO | “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.”

“If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.”

Is there any truth to this old saying? True, this is weather folklore but many sayings are based on careful observations and turn out to be accurate, others are the beliefs of the people who came before us.

Those people often believed that bad spirits could affect the weather adversely, so they were cautious as to what they did or did not do in certain situations. Those beliefs often included ideas that there should be a balance in weather and life. So, if a month came in bad (roaring like a lion), it should go out good and calm (docile, like a lamb). There is truth in that we are often affected by weather, getting depressed with too much rain and cold, getting happy when the sun comes out.  The same goes for our working world. When things are going great we are happy and get into a state of euphoria sometimes to the point where we react with doom and gloom when things aren’t going our way.

There will always be challenges and it is how we react to them that changes the way things are.  Look for the silver lining behind the storm cloud and be positive and proactive about your work and your life.  Your servant leader, here to help.

  • Very well said Dr. Anderson. It can be hard to see the silver lining but it is always there.
