Myth: Your Dental Insurance will cover any work you need done.

Truth: Each insurance is different. There are deductibles, premiums, allowances, and percentages that all need to be factored in. Your dental provider should be able to provide an estimate for any dental work with these factors included. Always remember these are “estimates” and it may not always match up perfectly in the end. Every insurance is different, and so is every situation.

As a dental provider, it is your job to present correct treatment plans to your patients. When a treatment plan is presented with accuracy (to the best of the offices ability), the patient is more likely to be pleased with the office and will schedule back for treatment. It doesn’t come across very professional when a treatment plan is presented to a patient incorrectly and then having to re-present a whole new cost to the patient. Happy patients make for a happy practice. Put in the necessary amount of time when putting together treatment plans and receiving breakdown of benefits from insurance companies. This time is well spent and creates a better office flow.
